FAQs

It’s really common to have a lot of questions you need answered before you feel ready to book a trip. If you don’t see your question here, please contact us and we are happy to help!

What is Rise & Rove?

Rise & Rove is a modern group travel company that curates and leads small group trips around the globe, catering to women. Each trip is designed to promote a sense of community, adventure and fun while setting the stage for life-long friendships with other women who travel.

The trip itineraries are rich in adventure, culture and special interest topics that are unique to the destination. Everything is hand-selected by the founders with the utmost of care and designed to ensure you will deeply experience the local culture and the natural beauty of the place you are visiting. We ensure each itinerary has a mix of adventure, wellness, sightseeing and food/drink experiences so you get a bit of everything in the destination.

What is your mission?

At Rise & Rove our mission is to create a supportive (and FUN) travel community for females that really want to get out there and travel more. We know there are a few common things that stand in the way of women realizing their travel goals, and it is our mission to remove these barriers.

1. Many women don’t have people to easily travel with or it’s just too hard to line up schedules with everyone’s busy lives – the group aspect of Rise & Rove provides like-minded women in the same age group to travel with. Boom, instant travel buddies.

2. Travel planning can be overwhelming or tedious for many people. The curated aspect of the itineraries removes the need to organize and plan. They simply come along for the ride and all the details are worked out and managed by Rise & Rove.

3. Some destinations feel scary or overwhelming to visit on your own whether its because of safety, remoteness or other reasons. At Rise & Rove we give confidence and security to women travelers so they may travel to destinations on their bucket list without anxiety.

What are your core values?

A "one world" mindset

We see the world not as borders, boundaries and race but as one multi-cultural global community. We can all learn from one another, celebrate diversity and gain tremendous perspective.

Support the locals

Our trips are designed to give back to the local economy and lift women in society whenever possible.

Be eco conscious

We are aware this Earth is a precious gift and we do our part to treat her kindly and travel consciously.

Be accepting of others

We wish the best for each other, celebrating both our commonalities and our differences. Rise & Rove is a place where you are welcomed with open arms by your current and future friends.

How do I know I’m a good fit for a Rise & Rove trip?

If you mesh with our core values, enjoy the company of other people and are up for the adventure that comes along with traveling, then you are a good fit! This could mean you are an introvert or extrovert. You could be single, married, gay, straight, a mom, a busy career woman, you name it. Rad women come in all shapes and sizes. The most important thing is that you are able to go with the flow, keep a positive attitude and simply be a good human being.

What is the group size?

By design our group sizes are small and will typically never exceed 14 people. As a larger group, you are limited to the types of establishments you can eat in, stay in, visit, etc. and it’s very important to us that the trips really immerse you in the local culture. That’s hard to do if you can’t go to the charming little cafe that only seats 25 people run by a woman and her family for the last 50 years. We don’t want to sacrifice quality for quantity.

Is this a luxury trip company?

Well, we like to say boutique luxury. Will we be staying at the St. Regis? No. But you will be staying at cool, boutique properties, sometimes eating at Michelin star joint but sometimes eating delicious street food, maybe taking a tuk-tuk, maybe enjoying a private sunset sail with prosecco but also maybe bundling up to see the Northern Lights with a campfire and cup of cocoa. The experiences will be varied and never basic. You will be delighted by your accommodations and it is our mission to WOW you.

What is included?

Each trip will have different inclusions that are listed on the trip description page. We typically include breakfast, many lunches and dinners, some alcoholic beverages if they are part of an activity (such as wine tasting), transportation with our planned activities and any tickets and entrance fees. We will note if we have any optional excursions for an additional cost.

What is never included are your flights to and from our starting and ending point in the itinerary. Those are the responsibility of the traveler. Trip insurance also must be purchased separately and in some cases we require it (either because the country requires it or it is in your best interest to have it on an adventure-focused trip).

Will the itinerary ever change?

We really try to limit changes, but it’s possible. We really never stop researching and meeting locals in the destinations we visit so if we find something we feel is going to be a better experience for our travelers than what we initially planned, we will make the change. Or, if we must make a change due to things outside of our control such as weather or issues that may compromise our safety, we will adjust as necessary.

Will I have free time?

Yes. We know people need down time and we build in for this in our plans. At any time, however, we encourage our travelers to do what they want to do. If you want to skip an activity or just need a little “me” time, you will never be judged for that! We are all independent women and we simply want you to enjoy the hell out of your trip, so you make the call if you need more free time than what we designed.

What should I pack?

We will give specific guidance on what to pack for every trip. After you’re booked, you’ll receive all the info you need. That said, the one universal point of advice we have is to pack as light as you can. We are about adventure and seeing the globe, which may mean cobblestone streets, hotels without lifts, ferries, trains, rural areas with dirt roads – essentially environments where you don’t want to deal with lugging a ton of heavy luggage. You do you though – this is just our advice.

What is the rooming situation?

Unless otherwise stated, the price for the trips assume you will have a roommate. We do our best to choose rooms that will be comfortable for newbies to room together. We will be gathering information about you during the booking process and we’ll use that to assign people that we feel will be compatible. If you want your own room, this will mostly always be an option for an additional cost.

Can I room with a specific person if I want?

Yes! If you’re traveling with people you know and want to room together, just let us know and we’ll arrange it that way.

I’m on the fence…can we talk more about it?

Absolutely. It is very common for people to feel anxious about booking a group trip, particularly if they haven’t done it before. Let’s talk via phone or video chat, and please feel free to be honest and open about anything you are concerned with so we can help you decide if it’s the right fit. Start by reaching out via the contact form and we’ll schedule time to talk!

What is the booking process?

To secure your spot on the trip, we will take an initial deposit. You will simply apply by filling out the booking form on the site  and submitting your deposit payment. From there, we’ll be in communication between deposit and departure. We’ll send you all the information you will need to be prepared for your trip, as well as a virtual intro to your trip mates.

Note! One important point of communication is in regards to your home flight to/from the destination. We ask that you do not book your flight until we send you the green light, just in case there are changes that will impact the departure point. But, we will be crystal clear in this communication once you book.

What is the payment structure?

Unless we state otherwise on the trip description, our general structure is as follows:

At booking: $500 deposit due

90 days prior to departure: 100% of the trip cost is due

Bookings made 90 days or less before departure must be paid for in full at the time of booking.

What is the cancellation/refund policy?

Up to 89 days prior to departure: Initial deposit is non-refundable but transferrable to another Rise & Rove trip taken within 365 days.

90 days or less prior to departure: 100% of the trip total is non-refundable.

Do I need trip insurance?

Some trips will require it due to regulations, in which case we will note this on the Trip Description – but regardless, we STRONGLY encourage you to carry it. It is a fraction of the cost of the trip and in our opinion, it is very worth it should something happen. We can recommend some good companies for you to book through.
